Eleanor Burn's has the best instructions for new quilters - I first made this quilt 10 or 12 years ago in my early days of quilting. It went together very easy and looked good. I am fixing to make it again. It is a very detailed book. So beginner's will do well with it and old timers and look a the pictures. LOL. It has a lot of the different lay outs you can do log cabins in.I think I have made quilts out of 8 or 10 Eleanor Burns books. If I remember right she was working on a Log Cabin at swap meets years and years ago and people asked her how to make them and she wrote out the instructions and ditto copied them and sold them for a dollar or so and that is how Quilt in a Day got started. The center piece is the hearth or fire, the light side is the sunny side of the cabin and the dark side is the shady side of the cabin she explains in one of her books. Not sure if it is this one.
